Background:

The West Marin Coalition for Equity and Justice (CEJ) is a regional Diversity, Equity, Inclusion, Justice and Belonging (DEIJB) learning community funded by the West Marin Fund, currently composed of 47 organizations who signed the West Marin Nonprofits Equity Statement in 2020 soon after the murder of George Floyd. Impact Launch is providing consulting services to support the CEJ, and this contract position will report to Impact Launch.

To date, representatives of the approximately 45+ signatory organizations have participated as CEJ members in a variety of roles and learning opportunities, from participation in the CEJ steering committee and book club discussions, to engaging in a three-part Racial Equity Journey and, most recently, a strategic planning process.

During the Racial Equity Journey, CEJ members acknowledged the need to diversify the membership to be truly representative of the larger West Marin Community.  CEJ members discovered that the North Star of the CEJ is belonging, because this orients the group beyond inclusion to a practice of sharing power and responsibility with respect in a diverse group.  During the strategic planning process, CEJ members identified a set of strategies and goals to initiate the next cycle of its work, as well as a revised structure. The following are the goals and strategies identified by the CEJ:
